‘Stranger Things’ Creators Reveal If Eddie Is Alive and More About Season 5 (Listen)

Stranger Things season 4 has been smashing streaming records, so there’s no surprise that everyone is eager to find out what will happen in season 5.

With the “Upside Down” now taking over Hawkins, what can fans expect for the show? Well, Matt and Ross Duffer (better known as the Duffer Brothers) are revealing a little of what fans can expect from the final season.

When appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt revealed why season 5 probably won’t be as this last season. He shared, “The only reason we don’t expect [it] to be as long is, this season, if you look at it, it’s almost a two-hour ramp up before our kids really get drawn into supernatural mystery,” he continues, “You get to know them, you get to see them in their lives, they’re struggling with adapting to high school and so forth, Steve’s trying to find a date, all of that. None of that is obviously going to be occurring.”

In the podcast, they also revealed they want to have a full-circle moment to their first season. With season 5 wrapping up the iconic series, the brothers plan to have a lot of the original pairings in season 1 reconnect!

The brothers also confirmed who is dead and who might be alive.

Talk show host Josh Horowitz listed off characters who have “died” in season 4 to confirm they are, in fact, dead. Horowitz listed Dr. Brenner [Matthew Modine], Eddie Munson [Joseph Quinn], and he also questioned whether Max Mayfield [Sadie Sink] is deceased.

The brothers confirmed Dr. Brenner and Eddie are, in fact, dead, but Max is simply “braindead.” Quinn has quickly become a fan favorite, and many have been hopeful that he will return in season 5, but it looks like with this latest confirmation it may seem unlikely.

The Duffer Brothers  do plan to work on a spin-off series, revealing that it will be “1000% different” from the current show. They shared that the spin-off will not follow the characters fans have grown to love.

But, until season 5 is released, we won’t know what happens to our favorite characters and the town of Hawkins.
