With the “Sweat vs Savvy” challenge aside, other chaos ensued at camp during the time between the reward challenge and the immunity challenge.

Upon arriving at camp, each tribe had an extremely visible birdcage with a mysterious bag hanging inside. Given that this something we have yet to see in the history of Survivor, paranoia occurred within the Ratu, Soka and Tika tribes, with all of the castaways wondering what is in the bag AND how to get inside of the birdcage to find out.

While no one within the Soka tribe and the Tika tribe was victorious, Brandon found the key for the Ratu tribe’s birdcage, but it came at a cost…

Unfortunately for Brandon, he found the key just feet away from his tribemate Maddy Pomilla, ultimately destroying any chances he had at keeping his discovery a secret AND forcing him to show the rest of the tribe.

While he assumed that this veryyyy public birdcage contained a group reward, it turns out that the mysterious bag inside contained a hidden immunity idol, as well as a “dummy idol” that could be used to trick others later.

This completely backfired for Brandon, not only exposing that he now has a hidden immunity idol, but also squashing any chance of using the “dummy idol” on any of his tribemates in the future.

Also at the Ratu tribe, Matthew got a little bit too adventurous while exploring the camp…

The 43-year-old was climbing a rock over by the beach and took a jaw-dropping tumble, ultimately injuring both his shoulder AND his foot. After receiving medical attention, it was determined that Matthew would still be able to continue his Survivor journey, however, he eventually made the decision to sit out of the immunity challenge that was to follow.
