Taylor Austin Dye Drops Fiery Breakup Track “First” & Talks First-Ever Radio Hit, Opry Tears & Stage Surprises (Exclusive)

If there is one thing you can count on from Taylor Austin Dye, it is that she is going to give it to you straight, loud, and loaded with unapologetic Southern swagger.

The Booneville, Kentucky powerhouse has had a monumental 12 months: signing a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music, making her Grand Ole Opry debut, signing with Jay DeMarcus‘ Red Street Records, and amassing over 1.2 million social media followers and millions of streams with her fiercely loyal fan base, the “Ride or Dyes.”

Now, the Country-rock riser is keeping the momentum blazing with her brand-new single, “First,” which hit music streaming platforms this past Friday (July 17).

Red Street Records

Dropped via Red Street Records, “First” delivers a spirited, rock-tinged twist on the familiar post-breakup heartbreak. Written alongside Ben Wagner, Gigi Rich, and Hallie Hertrick, and co-produced by Taylor herself alongside Lex Lipsitz, the track tells the tale of a heart that checked out way before the final goodbye was ever said.

Rather than sitting around crying over spilled milk, Taylor serves up straight-shooting lyrics that remind us why her signature “girl-power” storytelling hits so hard:

“Don’t think for a second baby / I’m the one getting hurt / I been through the going crazy / And I don’t know what’s worse / That you let me down / That I stuck around / That you packed your bags / That I done checked out / Don’t think you did the breaking baby / You might have said the words / But my heart left first,” she sings.

Accompanying the track is an official music video where Taylor delivers a captivating, high-energy performance that proves she is one of the most compelling live acts rising in Nashville right now.

Having built a massive independent foundation (her album Sick of Me stacked up over 1 million streams in its first week alone), making the leap to radio with her single “Man For That” was a milestone straight out of a childhood dream.

“I just had my first song ever, ‘Man For That,’ go to country radio, and that has been such an incredible ride,” she beamed when speaking with Celeb Secrets backstage at CMA Fest 2026 earlier this summer. “I grew up listening to the radio in the back of my mom’s Cadillac… When everyone tags me in it and says, ‘I just heard your song on the radio,’ it’s like the best feeling ever. I just feel like this chapter of my career is really growing, and I’m really starting to come into my own.”

Of course, with giant milestones come giant emotions. Reflecting on stepping into the sacred circle at the Grand Ole Opry, Taylor didn’t hold back on how nervous she was.

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna throw up. I’m gonna have a heart attack. I’m gonna throw up.’ I Kim Kardashian ugly cried after I got out of the circle. I was unwell.”

With “First” officially out everywhere, a steady stream of tour dates across the country, and an unstoppable team at Red Street Records behind her, Taylor Austin Dye is proving that authenticity always wins out.

Her piece of advice for anyone looking up to her? Keep it real.

“It really just comes down to being yourself because, for me anyway, I can tell when someone’s not being authentic,” Taylor shared. “I think that people really appreciate when you’re just unapologetically who you are and just authentic to your core and what you believe in.”
