Things are going all too well for Taylor Swift this year!
The 32-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and director will no longer have a blank space after she receives an honorary doctorate degree from New York University.
NYU announced on Monday (March 28) that Taylor Swift and the Leading Disability Rights Activist Judith Heumann are amongst the speakers to honor 2020, 2021, and a separate ceremony for the 2022 graduating students aside from receiving the honorary doctorate.
Swift will give her speech in the morning ceremony for the Class of 2022 and receive a Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa.
“Doubleheader,” Commencement is the given name by the University after the coronavirus caused graduation ceremonies to be held virtually. The eleven-time Grammy winner will receive her diploma at Yankee Stadium with other graduates.
“I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to be coming together in person with graduates, parents, faculty, and honorees for NYU’s Commencement. Since 2019, we have been deprived of Commencement’s festive, communal joy, and its absence has been keenly felt,” said NYU President Andrew Hamilton in a statement.
NYU acknowledges Swift as one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation and the solo artist to have three No.1 albums in one year.
