Tess Ledeux Reflects on Incredible Finishes at X Games Aspen 2024 (Exclusive)

It was a whirlwind weekend for Tess Ledeux at X Games Aspen 2024!

The 22-year-old French skier reached a huge milestone at this year’s games in Aspen, Colorado, as she now owns ten X Games medals thanks to mind-blowing finishes in both Women’s Ski Big Air and Women’s Ski Slopestyle.

“I can’t believe I have 10 [X Games] medals now. Thanks to my staff, my family, everybody who helped me,” Tess shared with Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder at the base of Buttermilk Mountain.

New to the Big Air format, competitors were judged on style points on the first kicker dubbed the style jump, followed by their level of technicality on the second and third tricks. Ledeux was able to cement her dominance right from the beginning at Big Air on Saturday (January 27), as she was able to adapt to the contest’s newest format by earning a perfect score of 10 on her first style hit. Her technical portion consisted of a double cork 1620 safety grab in Run 2 and switch double cork 1440 safety grab in Run 3.

”Wow, This is amazing. Five gold medals. I can’t believe it and I’m just so happy. The perfect 10 was a big surprise for me. I’m super proud of this trick!” said Ledeux in a statement following the contest.

Rounding out the podium for Big Air was Anastasia Tatalina (RUS) in silver and USA’s Rell Harwood in the bronze medal positions. Ledeux’s biggest challenger and co-Big Air favorite Mathilde Gremaud (SUI), who hasn’t missed a podium this season, took the risk of opting out of safety runs to go big and was unable to stick any of her runs.

“X Games is always an amazing week, and I’m so happy to get an invite every year,” she added.

X Games Aspen 2024 Day 2 Recap – January 27, 2024

Setting the bar high for the rest of the weekend, Ledeux went into Day 3 of competition ready to win even more medals, and she did just that by laying down what was arguably the most flawless run in women’s Slopestyle history.

Showing off her rail prowess up top followed by solid two jumps, Ledeux also became the first woman to do a double cork 1260 and double cork 1440 back-to-back in a snowboard or ski contest – making her untouchable for the rest of the competition. Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud and fellow Swiss competitor Giulia Tanno joined the 22-year-old on the podium as they finished in second and third place, respectively.

“The weather was amazing and all the girls killed,” Tess told Celeb Secrets after the contest. Just wanted to medal today, but a gold medal is so special. I can’t believe it right now.”
