The first impression rose is symbolic and foreshadows the potential outcome of the show. The first impression rose was introduced during season 10 of The Bachelor and has played a critical role ever since. This rose almost marks the contestant as a front-runner in the competition.

So, when it was time for Katie to pick which gentleman was worthy of the legendary flower – viewers felt the nerves and tension that filled the hotel through their television screens. After a long night of consideration, Katie ended up picking Greg Grippo from New Jersey.
