The Bills had the ball first in this one and drove down the field but were held to a field goal by the Patriots defense led by pass rusher Josh Uche who had a fantastic primetime performance as the third-year pro ended the game with two sacks and three quarterback hits.
With that said, the Bills were able to find a groove in the second quarter of the contest as Josh Allen threw two eight-yard touchdown passes, the first one to Stefon Diggs and the next one to Gabe Davis.

Buffalo would add their third touchdown of the game in the third quarter on a one-yard run by Devin Singletary; Singletary finished the night with 51 yards and a touchdown on thirteen carries. However, the leading rusher for the Bills was rookie tailback James Cook; the 2022 National champ finished the win with fourteen rushes for 64 yards and added six catches for 41 yards, while Singletary finished with zero catches on just two targets.
It will be interesting to monitor the Bills running backs room going forward as Cook may be one of those late-blooming rookies who breaks out towards the end of the season; with that said, it may just be one game, and Singletary may take back the bulk of the carries next week, but it will still be fun to monitor.
As for the Patriots, nothing went well on the offensive side of the ball besides a trick play in which they put defensive back/kick returner Marcus Jones, into the game, and Mac Jones threw him a quick pass that Jones ended up taking to the house for a 48-yard touchdown.
The passing offense of the Patriots looked completely different compared to their week twelve matchup against the Vikings. Much credit should be given to the Bills defense for a tremendous performance with a great showing by cornerback Taron Johnson who finished with two pass deflections and four tackles.
This was a massive win for Buffalo as the Bills had previously been winless in division play so far this season, so with this victory, they move to 1-2 in division games and 9-3 on the year.
For now, they take sole possession of first place until the result of the Dolphins game versus the 49ers on Sunday is finished to see whether or not the Dolphins stay in first or if Buffalo slides in and takes a one-game lead in the standings.
The Bills will look to add another victory in their week fourteen AFC East battle against the Jets.
The Patriots will look to bounce back in week fourteen against the Cardinals on Monday Night Football to avoid a third straight loss.
