The Highly-Anticipated Nickelodeon Series “Erin & Aaron” Is ‘Something That Everyone Can Watch Together’ (Exclusive)

The wait is finally over! The highly-anticipated series Erin & Aaron premieres TONIGHT (April 20th) at 7:30 PM PT/ET on Nickelodeon, and we seriously can’t contain our excitement.

Erin & Aaron is a musically-driven comedy, and it’s about two step siblings who are both named Erin/Aaron. It’s about them finding common ground with each other, bonding through music and working their way through this new blended family that’s so new to them,” one of the stars of the show Ava Ro (Erin) revealed to Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten in an exclusive interview.

We sat down with both Ava Ro AND Jensen Gering (Aaron) to learn all about the soon-to-be hit series, where they even spilled some behind-the-scenes secrets…

Although Erin and Aaron are step siblings within the series, it is clear that they are nothing alike.

“My character, she’s Erin, with an E. She’s a rocker. She doesn’t care what people think of her. She loves to write her own music and play her guitar,” Ava revealed, however, Jensen’s character is exactly the opposite.

“I’m the clean cut, pop, germaphobe, like ‘wash your hands before you speak to me’ character, but yeah, I think my character is really sweet and nice and kind. He mainly plays the piano, she mainly plays the guitar, but you can see Erin and Aaron start to branch out to new instruments later on in the season,” Jensen teased.

Ava then went on to share that being able to both act AND sing in Erin & Aaron was truly a dream.

She gushed, “We’re both musicians as well, so being able to put our love of music and love of acting together in one show — I’m just so grateful for everything, and it’s my dream role really,” and Jensen wholeheartedly agreed.

While Erin & Aaron is a Nickelodeon series, the show truly has something for the whole family.

“I think a lot of people who watch the show will be able to relate to it,” Ava shared. “I think not just kids but but families everywhere who watch the show together, being able to see on the screen, a blended family and a diverse family as well, you know, just trying to find their way in the realness of all of it.”

Jensen added, “I love the show so much, because it’s not specifically for any group or any audience, you can watch it with your whole family, you know,  it’s not something like that the parents are gonna be sitting in the background like, ‘I don’t want to see that.’ It’s something that everyone can watch together, as a family.”

Aside from being a musically-driven comedy, the show is SO much more than what meets the eye.

When asked a theme that really shines through in Erin & Aaron, Ava explained, “Honestly, I think, be true to who you are, and also, you know, don’t don’t just assume things about people, because that’s what Erin and Aaron kind of do in the first few episodes. They don’t get along at first and they think instantly that like this family is never gonna work out and it’s never gonna happen, but you know, be optimistic. I think that’s, that’s a great one.”

Jensen took a different approach, revealing that “another good one is resilience too.”

“I mean, Erin and Aaron have so many challenges that they face, and along with the parents too, I mean, handling us and handling Natasha as well. I think a key message is resilience, you know, there’s always going to be that one thing that’s, you know, you might even think is impossible or never gonna happen and to strive through that, which happens in in a few,” he continued.

With original songs and performances throughout the 13-episode season, we can’t wait to tune into Nickelodeon weekly on Thursdays to see both Ava AND Jensen rock out, and to watch them spread messages that are deeper than what we see on the surface.
