The Washington Commanders Hand the Philadelphia Eagles Their First Loss of the Season in 32-21 Win on Monday Night Football; The 1972 Miami Dolphins Remain the Only Perfect Team in NFL History

Week ten of the NFL season ended with a bang as the league’s only unbeaten team; the Philadelphia Eagles suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Washington Commanders; the Commanders won the primetime division showdown 32-21 on Monday Night Football.

The Commanders were led by a multi-touchdown game from their backfield duo of Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson and a standout performance by cornerback Kendall Fuller who completely shut down all-pro wideout A.J. Brown. The well-balanced game plan of a solid run game and lockdown defense very much worked out for Washington in this big-time win.

The running game of the Commanders allowed them to waste much time and keep the ball out of Jalen Hurts’ hands. Robinson Jr. finished the contest with 86 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, while Gibson finished with 44 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to go along with three catches for fourteen yards.

It was also a terrific showing for star wideout Terry McLaurin who had eight receptions for 128 yards, taking us back to some great past moments between McLaurin and current quarterback Taylor Heinicke who was Washington’s starting QB a season ago before being benched for Carson Wentz this season. It will be interesting to see how Ron Rivera and his staff handle the quarterback room when Wentz returns from injury; it may be in their best interest to stick it out with Heinecke.

As for the Commanders defense, Kendall Fuller put on an absolute star-studded shutdown performance against one of the best receivers in the league in A.J. Brown; Brown was held to just one catch for seven yards on four targets, while Fuller deflected two passes on the night.

The Commanders will look to take advantage of the momentum of this massive win by looking for another victory in week eleven at Houston against the one-win Texans.

As for the Eagles, they are still one of the top teams in the league and will look to bounce back on the road against the Colts in a week eleven showdown.

Now, the 1972 Miami Dolphins can pop the champagne as they remain the only undefeated team in NFL history fifty years after accomplishing something that had never been done before. One of the best members of that team, Larry Csonka, took to social media to celebrate the perfect season streak staying alive and commending the Commanders for taking down the Eagles.
