The Asgardian God of Thunder has spoken. Chris Hemsworth took to Instagram on Tuesday (June 1) to announce that the fourth installment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, has finished filming.
In the black and white photo, Hemsworth is posing next to co-star and director Taika Waititi. Hemsworth jokes and celebrates it being “National Don’t Flex Day,” despite wearing a white tank top that shows off his muscles in the photo.
His caption reads, “That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate. The film is gonna be batshit crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!! @taikawaititi @marvelstudios 📷 @jasinboland”
Waititi posted the same photo with a heartfelt caption.
He said, “And that’s a wrap on Thor: Love and Thunder. ❤️➕⚡️ Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and @chrishemsworth who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I don’t look cool I know that. This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honoured to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022. @marvelstudios 📸: @jasinboland”
As like most Marvel projects, plot details have been kept under wraps for the film. We do know that a majority of the cast from the previous films will return in their respective roles. Some of those stars include Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster/Mighty Thor), Karen Gillian (Nebula), and Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord).
Speaking of Asgard, another one of our favorite gods has a show coming out soon! Loki starring Tom Hiddleston debuts on Disney+ on June 9th. We can’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans Thor’s dear brother will get up to.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to release in 2022.
