Our favorite God of Mischief is back to trouble in Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ new trailer for the Disney+ exclusive TV series, Loki, premiering this summer, June 11.
In the roughly two-minute-long trailer, the series picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Loki stole the Tesseract and lands himself in the bureaucratic world of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), thereby splitting the timeline.
Now, for those who aren’t completely immersed in the MCU, Loki probably looks like another “buddy-cop” dynamic show that happens to include some sci-fi and a supervillain. But of course, the Marvel timeline is more complex than that.
The Loki in the series is not the Loki that we saw in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. So, this Loki has not rekindled his relationship with his brother, Thor, nor has he traveled throughout the entire MCU timeline which is what brought him to the light side (kinda).
Loki will feature the God of Mischief as he finally steps out of his brother’s shadow and gets another chance at redemption when the TVA captures him and requests that he help them set the timeline back in place.
Tom Hiddleston is back to reprise his role as Loki and will star alongside Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, with Kate Herron directing and Michael Waldron as head writer.
Loki is Marvel Studios’ third series and follows the release of WandaVision and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, which is currently running on Disney+.
