The 2016 MTV Movie Awards was bigger, better, and crazier than ever!

This year marks its 25th anniversary and it’s safe to say that MTV outdid their milestone event. Hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart, the ceremony was filled to the brim with raunchy shenanigans, vulgar language, and 4,000 zealous fans. Oh, and did we mention that Suicide Squad was there?? Let’s take a look at the show’s most OMG-worthy moments!

The prerecorded #MovieAwards will be airing Sunday, April 10th at 8/7c.

Suicide Squad = Goals

“Sweat, blood and semen…it’s all in this movie!”

-Jared Leto

The crowd went completely haywire when Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Jared Leto took to the stage to introduce never-before-seen tidbits from their upcoming film, Suicide Squad. The actors then showed off their slick dance moves as DJ Khaled’s “All I Do is Win” blasted through the lot. Things got so crazy, fans nearly toppled the barricades! Suicide Squad will hit theaters August 5th.

Halsey Heads Straight For The “Castle”

Ashley Frangipane or better known as Halsey, performed “Castle”, the haunting tune that partakes on The Huntsman: Winter’s War soundtrack as well as the first song off her Badlands LP. During the song’s TV debut, the singer filled the backlot with her intense vocals and chilling vibes which have become a part of her artistic vision. The performance mirrored the studio version as a chorus and orchestra backed her. The overall tone of it all was dark, mysterious, and spine-tingling. What else could you possibly want?

MTV Comedic Genius

“I may be the first woman to receive this award, but I am certainly not the first one to deserve it. I’m a walking human patchwork of all the funny women I have loved and studied over the years.” -Melissa McCarthy

From hits like Identity Thief and Bridesmaids, it’s not a surprise that Melissa McCarthy received the MTV Comedic Genius Award. Since she is the first woman to ever receive this achievement, she had to go in big and that is exactly what the mega-star did! McCarthy surfed the crowd and then had them hoist her on to the stage. As she went in to hug Hart, the Golden Popcorn flew out of her hand causing some kernels to pop out. She then teased that she would just switch her Golden Popcorn with Kevin, who snatched up the same award last year.

MTV Generation Award

“I just want all of you to know I am dedicated

until the day I die, to light and to love.” – Will Smith

There are only two kinds of people in the world: people who want to be with Will Smith or people who want to be like him. He is a global icon, total stud muffin, and now, a recipient of the MMAs’ highest honor. MTV, along with help from Halle Berry and Queen Latifah, awarded the honoree the Generation Award. Latifah reminisced about how they came up together in hip-hop while Berry explained why she admires Smith and the way he’s “blazing a path for actors of color”. Even after those kind words and a standing ovation, Smith still stayed humble. Amazing!

Ariana Grande Is A Dangerous Woman

Ariana Grande swapped her darling bunny ears for a more refined, vintage look during her MMAs debut performance. She channeled her inner Marilyn Monroe and made everyone swoon. Along with her sophisticated look, Grande delivered a new rendition of her smash single “Dangerous Woman”. With some assistance from Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown, we were treated to what her dedicated fans would recall as the old Ariana Grande we all know and love. She wore a luscious pink gown, white fur shawl, and a dazzling crystal necklace. Smoke covered the stage as the “Focus” singer showcased her phenomenal pipes while Brown tickled the ivory keys. Ariana Grande just brought a whole new meaning to the word elegant.

Just Deadpools Being Deadpools

“I thank you, the fans, for getting this movie made.

You pushed it over the top.” -Ryan Reynolds

And the best award acceptance goes to none other than The Merc with a Mouth! As Ryan Reynolds went to accept the Golden Popcorn for Best Comedic Performance, a hoard of horny little Deadpools crashed the stage to show off some hilarious choreography to Salt-N-Pepa’s “Shoop”. Even presenters Zac Efron and Seth Rogen joined in on the fun! The film has broken numerous box records, became the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, and the third-highest grossing film of 2016. Can’t wait to see what the sequel will bring!
