Travis Denning Says New EP “Might As Well Be Me” Is All About Who He Really Is As A Person (Exclusive)

Known for his charming personality and catchy music, Travis Denning is showing fans a side they’ve never seen before with his six-song EP Might As Well Be Meavailable today (August 5) on all streaming platforms.

The 29-year-old Mercury Nashville recording artist’s project is crafted for the stage, as it features Denning’s hard-charging energy and mischief-making signatures while showing extreme growth since his previous release Dirt Road Down.

Telling Celeb Secrets reporter Ilana Epstein that this new record includes some of the “best music he’s ever recorded,” Denning says that he tried to be as authentic and present as possible with the new material, hoping that fans will relate and want to see it live in concert.

“[‘Dirt Road Down’] was a pandemic record. I was writing from the point of view of not knowing if we were ever going back on the road. A lot of that fear went into making ‘Dirt Road Down.’ But for ‘Might As Well Be Me,’ I wanted to write about who I am now,” Travis tells CS Country. “I’m turning 30 this year and getting married next year, so I’ve got a lot to sing about that’s a lot different than what I’ve had before.”

“I wanted balance of both a nostalgic song to touch on where I’ve come from, how I grew up and how I’m living right now, but I also wanted to write and cut songs that people have to hear live, and I think that’s sprinkled throughout all of it,” he adds.

Featuring Travis’ new song “Buy A Girl A Drink” along with previously released “She’s On It,” Might As Well Be Me also includes the playful yet heartfelt “Don’t Give A Truck,” the nostalgia-tinged “River Named Mississippi,” the rollicking roadhouse banger “Red Round Here” and serene “If You Need Anything Down Here,” which finds the singer/songwriter pledging undying support to a fallen friend.

“I’m at this point in my life where I just want to like sing about the things that I love. I’m not overly concerned about it needing to be a hit; I cut and record songs that are a piece of me,” Travis says.

Always putting the fans first, the 29-year-old believes that being honest to himself and putting out songs that reflects his journey will resonate with both new and old listeners.

“If I was a fan and heard these songs, I would like them,” he said with a smile. “It’s important to make something that’s worth a damn, and for me that formula is just recording songs that better me. It’s the whole theme of this record. Hell, might as well be me because no one else will be and I’ll suck if I try to be anyone else.”
