The Jacksonville Jaguars come into this week sixteen matchup against the New York Jets with a two-game winning streak, while the Jets currently carry a three-game losing streak. With that said, both of these teams are competing for a spot in the NFL playoffs, as the Jets sit just one spot ahead of the Jags in the AFC playoff hunt.
Aside from their playoff races, this game also has a significant meaning due to each starting quarterback in tonight’s game as Trevor Lawrence, who was the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, will be battling off against that same draft’s number two overall pick as Zach Wilson retained the starting nod for Jets a week ago due to Mike White currently being unable to play due to injury.

In terms of play in their second seasons in the NFL, Lawrence has been playing much better and has shown much more promise than Wilson in the current season. Something that makes that extra impressive is that Lawrence is already on his second head coach in just his second season in the league, so perhaps much credit should be given to the Jaguars regime for hiring the right guy to help guide Lawrence to greatness in 2018 Super Bowl Champion Head Coach Doug Pederson.
As for Wilson, some of the struggles in his young career have been due to some offensive line problems and a lack of weapons around him; however, this past offseason, the Jets were able to upgrade in specific departments, including the receiving room, as they drafted Garrett Wilson out of Ohio State. In his rookie season, Wilson has shown many flashes of greatness as he has been one of the best receivers in the NFL throughout his first year as a pro.
This game tonight will truly come down to the trenches as both teams are led by youngsters in the backfield; the Jags number one running back is Lawrence’s college teammate Travis Etienne after the team traded James Robinson early in the season to their opponents tonight. As for the Jets, a few weeks back, the RB1 position was earned by undrafted rookie Bam Knight, who has been a joy to watch over the past few contests.
With that said, the defenses in each side will also have to contribute highly as the Jets defense has been one of the most consistent units in all of football throughout the season; as for Jacksonville, although the defense has not been bad, there are some games in which the unit has been inconsistent.
Overall, this is set to be a fun battle between two young quarterbacks along with head coaches early in their tenures with their respective teams.

As for predictions, we believe the Jaguars will come out victorious in this one with a 28-12 win. We also believe Trevor Lawrence will throw two touchdown passes and have one rushing touchdown.
