Tucker Wetmore Introduces Himself With Stellar EP ‘Waves On A Sunset’ – “It Was Really Just Me and a Bunch of Buddies Making Music” (Exclusive)

After putting social media into a frenzy with smooth vocals and infectious melodies, Tucker Wetmore is officially making his formal introduction to the world of country music with the release of his debut EP Waves On A Sunset

Available on all music streaming platforms beginning today (October 4), the eight-track project was aptly named after the singer/songwriter’s breakout smash “Wind Up Missing You” and tells the story of who the 24-year-old really is through a body of work — the heartbreaker, the heartbroken and the head-over-heels romantic.

“This EP is the first time I’m getting to show you who I am in a body of work,” shares Wetmore in a statement. “With so much I want to say, it’s impossible to do in just eight songs. But by the end of this project, I hope you’re excited to hear more because this is truly just the beginning. I’m beyond proud and thankful to everyone who helped make this possible – the writers, producers, my team, family, friends and especially the fans. This truly wouldn’t be possible without all of you and above all, God.”

Opening the project with “Silverado Blue,” Waves On A Sunset also includes previously released “Wine Into Whiskey,” the Billboard Hot 100 single “Wind Up Missin’ You,” and “What Would You Do?,” along with new songs like “You Honey,” “Break First,” and “When I Ain’t Lookin'” before wrapping the raw acoustic ballad that embraces heartbreak. “Mister Miss Her.”

Blending an ultra-modern sound and classic storylines, Waves On A Sunset is the perfect project to pave the way for a new era of country music. And while a lot of thought went into what Tucker wanted to convey for his big debut, he says its creative process was really just “a bunch of buddies making music.”

“It was fun and I did it with my friends. I’m very proud of all the songs for sure and of course my team, all the writers and all my buddies, because it was really just me and a bunch of buddies making music. That’s what I wanted it to be,” Tucker tells Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder of his best moments in a virtual media session earlier this week.

“I rented out a lake house for a couple of these songs on the EP and it was just one of those things where we just hang out and we love to write songs, so that’s what we did and we’re putting them out now. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years, you know, putting out my first project, my first hello to the world. It’s my first ‘this is who I am,’ but it’s only scratching the surface because I’ve got so much more to say.”

Only six months into his burgeoning career, the Kalama, Washington native has already notched two RIAA GOLD certified tracks, was named Billboard’s Rookie of the Month, made his Grand Ole Opry debut and was tapped as Spotify’s RADAR artist. In terms of playing live shows, the 24-year-old drew at-capacity crowds at CMA Fest 2024, was direct support for Luke Bryan on his FARM Tour and made an appearance to support Cole Swindell at his special Red Rocks show. And today (October 4), Tucker will kick off his nearly sold-out Waves On A Sunset Tour in Statesboro, GA, where he will then hit 17 cities with artists like Hannah McFarland, Eli Winders and Ashland Craft. But it doesn’t stop there… Wetmore also landed a coveted spot on Thomas Rhett‘s Better In Boots Tour as direct support, further solidifying his spot in country music.

With everything happening so quickly, things can get overwhelming. However, Tucker tells Celeb Secrets that the secret to staying grounded is spending time with his family… and of course getting enough sleep.

“I come from a Samoan family, and we’re all filled with love. You are nothing without the people around you, and that’s kind of like the whole culture. Your people are your people, and you love everybody. I was raised on ‘bless thy enemy as much as you bless your neighbor’  and things like that, so I’m always doing something with my family and friends,” he shares.

“Whether it’s sitting in the garage having a couple of beers and watching football — like we just did all weekend this last weekend — or just doing whatever I can to get out of the house, [that’s what keeps me grounded]. But sometimes I’m just like ‘I just need a nap. Nobody talked to me for 13, 14 hours.'”
