TWICE Want to Make Sure You Can Depend on Them with TIME100 Talks Performance (Watch)

K-Pop has made quite a scene in the Western music industry with the likes of BTS, BLACKPINK, SuperM, Monsta X, and many others, and it’s no different with JYP Entertainment’s girl group TWICE.

With the Coronavirus still present around the world, members Jihyo, Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu (with Jeongyeon on break due to health reasons) kicked off the year with a performance of their latest track “DEPEND ON YOU” at TIME’s prestigious TIME100 Talks on January 29 live from Seoul.

“DEPEND ON YOU” is from the group’s sophomore album, Eyes Wide Open, which peaked at number two on Billboard’s World Albums chart and number 72 on Billboard 200 chart, remaining on the latter for the past 11 weeks.

The song was written by TWICE’s eldest member, Nayeon, and the group chose to perform this specific song as it talks about offering strength and support during difficult times. The South Korean ensemble kept the tune’s sweet, melodic sound along with their angelic vocals during their stripped-back performance which made for an impactful and hope-filled act. Since their debut in 2015, TWICE has topped charts across the board, earned “Song of the Year” at the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards, and in 2017 was the only Asian act in Billboard’s 21 Under 21: Music’s Next Generation issue. In 2019, the group completed their world tour, TWICELIGHTS, which included stops at the esteemed The Forum in Los Angeles and the Prudential Center in Newark.

With hits and chart-toppers like “FANCY,” “Feel Special,” “MORE & MORE,” and “I CAN’T STOP ME,” iconic and catchy choreography, top of the line live performances, and incredibly eye-catching music videos, it’s only a matter of time until TWICE reach a new level of superstardom. Hopefully, the rest of the Western world will get on board, sooner rather than later.
