A unique film will be released in theatres nationwide on Friday, February 24, as the Elizabeth Banks-directed dark comedy Cocaine Bear will be available to watch.
For those who don’t know, Cocaine Bear follows the story of a 500-pound bear who accidentally absorbs a duffle bag of cocaine and begins to kill citizens in a small town in Georgia.
This dark-humored movie stars legendary actress Keri Russell, Long Shot actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., Hannah Montana: The Movie star Margo Martindale, and TikTok sensation Scott Seiss, to name a few. The film seems to be in great hands with this talented cast and high-profile director in Elizabeth Banks.

As for the inspiration behind Cocaine Bear, the film is inspired by a real-life event but has many differences. The story that inspired this film’s plot occurred in 1985 when famed drug smuggler Andrew C. Thornton II dropped a duffel bag containing cocaine from a plane he was flying. The cocaine was later digested by a 175-pound American Black Bear, and the animal died because of it. Some differences between the actual event and the movie include the bear’s weight and the fact that the actual “Cocaine Bear” did not kill anyone after taking the drugs.
Many individuals throughout social media have become fascinated with this upcoming dark-filled funny movie as it is a concept that has yet to be seen in a film produced by such a large and successful production company as Universal Pictures.
