Every holiday season, Celeb Secrets makes a trip to the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California for their annual Panto at the Playhouse. On Friday (December 2), we had the opportunity to drop in on rehearsals for this year’s production, A Cinderella Christmas, to get the scoop on the family friendly event.
Not exactly sure what a Panto is? No worries — we’ve got ‘ya covered! A Panto is interactive holiday fun for all ages. Based on the Grimm fairytales and others, each story has been modernized with topical scripts for parents and well-known pop songs for kids.
A Cinderella Christmas features comedy, magic, dancers from So You Think You Can Dance and contemporary music from Meghan Trainor to Michael Buble, including Meghan Trainor‘s “Me Too” and “No,” Kelly Clarkson‘s “Breakaway,” Michael Buble’s “Just Haven’t Met You Yet,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” It also stars Lauren Taylor as “Cinderella,” Alex Newell as “The Fairy Godperson,” Morgan Fairchild as “The Wicked Stepmother,” Kenton Duty as “The Prince,“ Davi Santos as “Dandini,” Matthew Patrick Davis as “Buttons,” and Josh Adamson and Ben Giroux as “The Ugly Stepsisters!”
After watching a run-though of a scene from the Panto, Celeb Secrets chatted with the cast members to learn all about the production. A Cinderella Christmas will play from December 8, 2016 – January 8, 2017. One hour before the performance on select days, guests are invited to enjoy “Winter Wonderland” at The Pasadena Playhouse, complete with holiday crafts and activities.
