Vincent Mason Talks Whirlwind Musical Journey From Viral TikTok Sensation to Country’s Newest Heartbreak King (Exclusive)

Vincent Mason is on a roll. The Georgia native, who just a few years ago was strumming a guitar in his dorm room, has turned his heartbreak anthems into a career that’s skyrocketing at an electrifying pace. With over 200 million total streams, a sold-out headlining tour, and opening dates with Riley Green on the horizon, Mason is making waves in country music — and he’s doing it his way.

Mason’s musical journey began with an undeniable love for lyrics and melody. “I’ve always been a fan of songs,” he told Celeb Secrets in an exclusive interview. “It always kind of moved me in a way that I thought everybody felt that way when they listened to a song. It took me awhile to realize that it’s just the people that end up making music that love it that much.”

Growing up in Roswell, Georgia, country music was always around, but it wasn’t until eighth or ninth grade that he really got into it. Inspired by artists like John Mayer, Parker McCollum, and Eric Church, he picked up a guitar in high school and never looked back.

His leap into songwriting came during his brief time at Ole Miss. “I knew I wanted to write a song; I just didn’t know what I was going to say or how it was going to sound,” he admitted. That changed during Christmas break of his freshman year when he penned his first verse and chorus. “Something clicked where I felt like that’s what I was going to do.” A few months later — with roughly four songs in his bank — COVID-19 hit, and Mason took the unexpected free time to fully dive into music.

By September, he was in Nashville, with just a handful of songs and a dream. “Looking back, I didn’t know anything about town or anybody,” he recalled. “But I’m glad that I did it. I met all the right people and I feel like God’s hand played a part of getting me to where I am now. I’m still just trying to keep it rolling and figure it out.”

Like many artists in today’s digital age, Mason found his audience online. “I didn’t post until about a year after I moved to Nashville,” he said. “I initially just wanted to be a songwriter, but my friends told me I needed to put my stuff on TikTok.”

After testing the waters with covers, Mason finally shared a snippet of one of his originals, “Everybody Loves Her.” Admitting he was scared to post it at first, the responses were overwhelming, filled with demands to release the full version. “That was the first one that got people asking me to put it out,” he said. “And it was when I felt like I could do this for real. People I didn’t know were asking me for it, and that was a wild thing to me.”

Then came “Hell Is A Dance Floor” — the song that changed everything. “Honestly, I didn’t see that coming at all,” Mason admitted. Written with Chase McDaniel, the song wasn’t one he initially thought would blow up. “I remember thinking, ‘This is cool, but I don’t think it’s like great.’” But once he recorded the full track, he knew there was something special. “I didn’t think it would do what it did, but I had a good feeling about it,” he said. “I still don’t really understand what it was that got everybody to listen, but I guess that’s just part of making music and making records.”

That feeling was right. The song racked up over 75 million streams and secured Mason a spot on major editorial playlists. It also led to his first-ever sold-out headlining tour, which was a moment he’ll never forget. “I was just hoping the rooms would be pretty full,” he said. “I didn’t think we’d sell out in presale, but I’m really grateful that we did. I’m thankful for everyone that bought tickets and I’m glad that people want to see shows because that’s kind of always been my focus.”

After a whirlwind 2024, Mason is kicking off 2025 with a bang. His new track, “Waitin’ On You to Wear Off,” was released in January and showcases his raw, emotional storytelling, a skill he’s honed since those early days in Nashville. “I was more hands-on with this production than I’ve ever been before,” Mason shared in a statement. “I had such a clear vision of how I wanted this song to feel, and it just felt like the perfect time of year for it.”

Mason explained how the song came together in the writing room. “Jack Hummel, Colton Venner, and I were just throwing around ideas, and when Jack suggested ‘Waitin’ On You to Wear Off,’ we were all like, ‘yeah, that’s cool. Colton started playing the chords and I started singing — we all went back and forth on the lyrics and I just loved the concept of that song.”

“I really wanted it to sound like someone was playing a slide guitar right next to you, like you were sitting in the room with me while I was singing it,” Mason continued. “I just wanted to put it out for the people that care to hear songs from me and make them happy going into the new year.”

And today (February 14), Mason is dropping “Wish You Well,” a tongue-in-cheek anthem of longing written by an all-star team of songwriters: Geoff Warburton, Jessie Jo Dillon, Blake Pendergrass, and Chris LaCorte. The heartbreak kid of country music adds this infectious upbeat melody to his catalog just in time for a sad boy Valentine’s Day. “Wish You Well” examines longing in a way that’s both heartfelt and playful, giving fans another anthem to add to their heartbreak playlists.

“This might be the most feel-good heartbreak drinking song that I know,” Mason shares in a statement.

Mason’s ability to connect with fans is undeniable, and he believes it all comes down to honesty. “I listen to music all day long and I just try to do stuff that I would want to hear that hasn’t been done quite like that,” he revealed. “I think the more I do that, the more it reaches people because other people are fans of songs too. You have to just trust your own ear.”

Revealing that he’s working on a full-length for this year, the country crooner isn’t just crafting an album — he’s building a body of work that fully encapsulates his journey of being a Southern 20-something navigating an exciting chapter of his life.

The project will feature his signature heartbreak ballads but also explore different themes. “I’m challenging myself to write outside of just heartbreak,” he explained. “I want songs that relate to everyday kind of life. There’s happy songs, there’s heartbreak songs, there’s songs about me and how the artist thing is kind of taking off and getting busier — but there are also songs about missing home, going out with your friends, stuff that’s happening at the bar and being on the road.”

Though there’s no official release date yet, Mason is eager to share the work with his fans. “This album is a reflection of everything I’ve been through to get here, and I just hope people find themselves in these songs.”

This summer, Vincent is about to take the stage on a whole new level as he opens for Riley Green, and he’s bringing the energy, the vibe, and the songs that are bound to make you fall in love with him. He’s been grinding on the road for a little over a year, but this time, it’s personal. It’s not just about being the opener anymore — this is his moment to shine.

“I’ve been an opener my whole career and it’s great to finally play to audiences that are there to see me. We’ve never put tickets on sale before, and to sell out pre-sale? I had no idea what to expect, but I’m so grateful,” Vincent says. He’s ready to prove that he’s not just another guy on the road. With a full band behind him, his sound is fuller, his confidence is up, and he’s ready to turn heads.

His excitement is palpable, especially when he talks about opening for Riley Green. “I’ve been a fan of his. He was one of those artists I found in high school, and I always just remember him being the guy from Alabama and like, he was kind of upcoming and it was cool. You could go see him in like a thousand, 2000 cap room and everybody was really excited about him,” he says. “To get booked on those shows as he’s kind of doing that, I think that’s just a bonus. I would have been excited anyway.”

But here’s the twist: Vincent isn’t just in it for the big stage, he’s ready to make his mark with some new moves. “I think the plan is to do kind of like a little broken down acoustic section for two or three songs in the set. So I’m excited to try out some new covers and some new songs.”

He’s not rushing to get to “Hell Is A Dance Floor” either… even though we’re all secretly waiting for it. The 24-year-old confirms to Celeb Secrets that he’s savoring every song in his set and soaking in the full experience.

“I’m just excited to have a crowd that’s there to see me. I feel like when you’re an opener, you kind of play it safe in a lot of ways sometimes, or you cut the set shorter than longer. It’s better to play too short than too long.”

This tour isn’t just about the music — it’s about learning, growing, and having fun. “I’ve watched Gavin [Adcock] kind of work his crowd for a long time and I’m probably gonna do it in a different style than he does it. But, I’m just excited to have a crowd that’s there to see me and, you know, you can kind of do stuff. I think I can try out some stuff that we’re going to put on the record and see if they like it,” he adds.

“Eric Church said that he used to not really like playing shows ’cause he thought people were waiting on the hits, and I think I relate to that. I kind of just rushed through the set to get to ‘Hell Is A Dance Floor’ sometimes. He said your show is about all the other songs in between that, so I think I’m going to use that as a time to try to learn that and relax on stage and realize that people might like the other songs, too.”

With his blend of storytelling, relatability, and modern country sound, Mason is carving out his own lane in the genre. Whether it’s through a tear-in-your-beer ballad or an electrifying live performance, one thing is clear — Vincent Mason is just getting started.
