What To Expect From X Games Aspen 2016 – Check Out Our Guide! (@XGames)

With X Games Aspen 2016 less than a week away (3 days to be exact), the other girls and I at CS4U are booming with excitement!

X Games will be returning to Aspen once again and it all starts this Thursday, January 28th @ 5:30 ET. Last year’s festivities were jam-packed with many jaw-dropping moments; we can hardly wait to see how they’re going to top it this year. But with the killer lineup of musical performances and over 200 competitors, we’re sure it won’t be that difficult!

To kick off the official countdown to the X Games Aspen 2016, CelebSecrets4U have compiled a complete breakdown what to expect this weekend. Let’s hit it!

The Events

Between Thursday (January 28th) to Sunday (January 31st), the world-class athletes will be competing in various events for medals, prize money, and of course the bragging rights that come with it. Each and every sports competition is absolutely free and open to the public. From snowboarding to skiing to snow crossing, the X Games will feature it all! Be sure to visit Xgames.com for the updated schedule of the competitions as well as the previews of the courses.

The Performances

In addition to the sport events, X Games will also feature musical performances throughout the weekend. After the success from the past four concerts, X Games has increased their musical offerings to six artists. Those artists include: deadmau5, Kygo, Twenty One Pilots, DJ Snake, Run The Jewels, and Nas. Check out the schedule of when they’re slated to perform below and click here to purchase tickets!

  • Run The Jewels – Thursday (January 28th) @ 8:00 pm MT
  • Nas  – Thursday (January 28th) @ 9:30 pm MT
  • Twenty One Pilots – Friday (January 29th) @ 9:30 pm MT
  • DJ Snake – Saturday (January 30th) @ 4:30 pm MT
  • deadmau5 – Saturday (January 30th) @ 9:30 pm MT
  • Kygo – Sunday (January 31st) @ 3:30 pm MT

The Amazing Competitors

With over 200 competing athletes, some will most likely go unnoticed. But there are a few you won’t want to miss. Here are 3 competitors that you’ll definitely want to keep your eye on: male snowboarder Keith Gabel (US), female skier Tiril Christiansen (Norway), and snowcross competitor Tucker Hibbert (US).

Not only is Keith Gabel a world-class athlete, but his inspiring story is what makes him fan favorite. We’re excited to see him represent the US in the Snowboard X Adaptive division. From witnessing his stepfather’s suicide firsthand to losing his lower left leg, Gabel has proven just what a trooper he is and we can’t wait to see him compete!

Female skier Tiril Christiansen will be making a comeback this year after suffering from a torn left ACL back in December of 2013. The last time she competed in X Games was in 2013 when she was crowned the youngest female gold medalist in X Games history. Christiansen is now 20-years-old and ready to prove just why they call her The Golden Skier.

Tucker Hibbert is returning this year in hopes of scoring his 9th consecutive win in snowcross. Although he lost his chance of being the youngest XG winter event gold medalist, he was still crowned the oldest XG snowcross winner. If Hibbert is able to score his 9th win, he’ll be tied with Jamie Bestwick’s streak from BMX Vert (A streak that was ended by Vince Byron back in 2015).
