White Sox’s Tim Anderson Out 2-4 Weeks With Sprained Left Knee

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson will miss the next two to four weeks with a sprained left knee, the team announced Tuesday (April 11). They placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list and recalled infielder Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte.

Anderson sustained the injury in a collision during Monday’s 4-3 win over Minnesota. The shortstop attempted to tag Twins outfielder Matt Wallner as he ran to third, but Wallner slid into Anderson’s leg trying to reach the base and Anderson remained on the ground for several minutes. He stayed in the game, but left the next inning with knee soreness and was replaced by Romy González.

Through 11 games this season, Anderson is hitting .298 with nine runs, four RBIs, five doubles and five stolen bases. He was an All-Star the past two seasons and represented the U.S. in the World Baseball Classic just last month. He’s been a part of Chicago’s core ever since he made his debut in 2016, winning the AL batting title in 2019 with a major league-best .335 average and a Silver Slugger Award in 2020.

Anderson also missed the last two months of the 2022 season with a hand injury. His IL stint is another added to the list for the White Sox, who are already down outfielder Eloy Jimenez as well as relievers Garrett Crochet, Joe Kelly, Matt Foster and Liam Hendriks.
