Newly hired Denver Broncos Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett has the chance to have this year’s rookie head coaching class get off to an undefeated start in the team’s Monday Night Football showdown against Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks.
The four other rookie head coaches have each won their first game, Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins defeated Bill Belichick and the Patriots, Kevin O’Connell of the Vikings beat Matt LaFleur and the Packers, Brian Daboll of the Giants defeated Mike Vrabel and the Titans, and Matt Eberflus of the Bears defeated Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers.
Hackett and the Broncos will be taking on the Seahawks in a game filled with extra emotion because it is Russell Wilson’s first official game in a Broncos uniform and because it is against the only team he has ever played for in his career.
Hackett is coming into Denver after having much success as the offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers for the last couple of seasons in which Packers QB Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVP awards. Thankfully for Hackett, he goes from one Hall of Fame level QB to another in Wilson.
We shall see what Hackett can do as a head coach and if he will keep the winning streak alive for his fellow rookie head coaches.
