Reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro Signs Four-Year $130 Million Contract Extension with the Miami Heat

Last season’s Sixth Man of the Year award winner, Tyler Herro, has signed a four-year $130 million contract extension to stay in Miami for the forseeable future.

With much speculation of him possibly being traded away within the last couple of years, especially this past offseason, the Miami Heat have decided to award one of their “homegrown” players a huge payday.

The 22-year-old is coming off the best season of his young career, as he averaged around 21 points per game to go along with four assists and five rebounds per contest.

Herro has been a polarizing figure since entering the league in the 2019 draft when the Heat selected him 13th overall. Since his rookie year, Herro has shown flashes of being a big-time player, especially in critical moments; Herro rises to the occasion.

With two Eastern Conference Finals trips and one NBA Finals trip already in his three-year career, Herro will look to continue to help the Heat get to that next level of winning a championship in his fourth season.

Although his regular season in the past year was tremendous, Herro was unable to be as productive for his team in the postseason due to an injury. It is likely that after missing time in the playoffs and all the off-season speculation of him possibly being traded to Brooklyn in a package for Kevin Durant or Utah in a package for Donovan Mitchell, for example, Herro will be more inspired than ever. Something of note is that Herro’s partner, Instagram influencer Katya Elise Henry, is pregnant with the pair’s second child. Therefore, this is another inspiration for Herro to improve this upcoming NBA season.
