Zendaya, Tom Holland, and Jacob Batalon go back to where it all began and react to their original Spider-Man: No Way Home audition tapes from 2015.
In the video posted to Sony Pictures’ YouTube, Holland introduces himself with an impressive backflip. He’s using his “spiderweb” to grab objects and put himself into character. Zendaya and Jacob’s reactions are priceless as they scream, “oh okay” and “woahhh!”
Tom was only 19 in his first Spider-Man, making him the youngest actor to portray the character.
And the full head of hair you see on Jacob Batalon is almost unidentifiable because he enters his audition tape completely bald. Batalon slates his name and immediately exits the camera, and his co-stars had a kick out of that.
“It’s the fact that you leave the frame…” says Holland hysterically.
“… and walk back in the scene,” says Batalon as he defends himself.
Then finally, it’s Zendaya’s time to shine, and her audition is surprisingly… normal. She’s sitting propped up in a chair and reads her lines.
Holland eyes Zendaya and says, “yea, you’re like really still and collected.”
In the end, Zendaya says, “I’d say they made a good decision.”
And it seems like they did considering that Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third-highest grossing domestic release in history, according to Deadline. It even won “Best Superhero Movie” at the Critics Choice Awards.
