Jacob Bertrand Talks Learning Hockey for New DCOM “The Swap”

JACOB BERTRAND

Disney Channel’s new original movie The Swap was record-breaking!

The film was the #1 cable TV telecast of 3Q 2016 to-date among Kids 2-11 (1.6 million/4.0 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.3 million/5.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.2 million/5.0 rating), and the #1 telecast across kid cable TV networks in Total Viewers (3.1 million). For its premiere and encores to date, the comedy adventure has reached over 7.2 million Total Viewers, including 4.1 million Kids 2-14 and 1.9 million Adults 18-49.

In The Swap, Ellie O’Brien (Peyton List) is trying to juggle rhythmic gymnastics and troubles with her best friend. Meanwhile, classmate Jack Malloy (Jacob Bertrand) is struggling to live up to his brothers’ hockey-star legacies and his dad’s high expectations and tough-love approach. When a text argument about whose life is easier gets out of hand, Ellie and Jack trigger an unexplainable real-life swap. As each tries to navigate the other’s life, hilarity ensues when Ellie (as Jack) learns about brotherly bonding and hockey lingo, while Jack (as Ellie) has to decipher girl code and experiences a spa day. With a rhythmic gymnastics championship and a spot on the varsity hockey team on the line, they must figure out how to get back in their own bodies before the swap becomes permanent. As they are forced to literally walk in each other’s shoes, they gain empathy for one another and learn valuable lessons about their own lives.

Did you know that Jacob Bertrand had to learn how to play hockey for his role? It wasn’t as easy as you thought it was! The Disney Channel actor stopped by the Celeb Secrets studio to talk all about the movie, learning how to play hockey, and all the fun times he had with his co-stars while filming.
