Thomas Rhett’s ‘Better in Boots Tour’ is the Full Package — and We Had the Chance to Experience It All (Review)

Thomas Rhett brought the party, the feels, and the fire to the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ last Thursday (July 10), proving once again why he’s one of country music’s most beloved entertainers — and why his Better in Boots Tour is a must-see event of the summer.

From the second the sun started to set over the nearly sold-out amphitheater, it was clear the crowd was in for an unforgettable night. Country riser Dasha kicked things off in true hot girl country fashion, serving up buzz-worthy tracks like her recent release “Oh, Anna!,” “Didn’t I,” “Bye Bye Bye” “Not at This Party” and her viral hit “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’),” which had fans belting along from the lawn to the front row. Following her was Tucker Wetmore, who oozed headliner energy with every note. The Washington native had the Jersey crowd swooning with a standout set that included “3,2,1,” his first No. 1 hit “Wind Up Missing You,” and the TikTok-favorite “Brunette,” which he closed his set with. Add in the cowboy cool, undeniable stage presence, and swoon-worthy smirks, and Wetmore had fans buzzing long before Rhett took the stage.

And when Thomas Rhett did take the stage? He gave the people exactly what they came for — and so much more.

Wearing his signature backwards hat and flashing that trademark smile, Rhett dove straight into his electrifying set with “Boots” off his latest album ABOUT A WOMAN. The energy only climbed from there, with hit after hit like “Make Me Wanna,” “Look What God Gave Her,” and “Life Changes” keeping the crowd on their feet, dancing, and singing at the top of their lungs. Each song was a reminder of Rhett’s catalog of hits — songs that not only defined an era of country music, but have become the soundtrack to so many fans’ lives.

Whether he was leading a full-band jam session, playing acoustic with heartfelt vulnerability, or jumping into mashups like “Front Porch Junkies” and “Get Me Some of That” for the longtime stans, Rhett’s set was seamless, packed with moments that hit both emotionally and energetically. But no moment hit harder than the viral, real-life heartstring tugger mid-way through the show.

After spotting a sign in the crowd that read My mom is 87 years old and this is her first country concert,” Rhett did what only a true entertainer with a heart of gold would do: he stopped the show, jumped off the stage and over the barricade, and made his way through the crowd to hug the 87-year-old fan in person. She responded with a kiss on the cheek and the crowd erupted. It was a reminder of everything that makes country music special: connection, kindness, and unforgettable moments shared between fans and the artists they love. It made the packed amphitheater feel like a backyard family hangout.

As the night continued, Rhett flexed his versatility with heartfelt ballads like “Remember You Young,” “Marry Me,” and “Country Again,” before turning up the heat with new tracks off ABOUT A WOMAN like “Gone Country,” “Somethin’ ’Bout A Woman,” and the Forrest Frank collab “Nothing Else.” Each song hit differently live — flirty, emotional, and made for stadium-sized sing-alongs.

One of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the night? His performance of “Small Town Girls,” which had Tucker Wetmore returning to the stage for a duet moment so electric, we kinda wished they just launched a side project together. Their chemistry was infectious, and the crowd couldn’t get enough.

To close things out, Rhett returned to the stage for a two-song encore: the fan-favorite “After All the Bars Are Closed,” and the timeless wedding anthem “Die a Happy Man.” Whether you were two-stepping in cowboy boots or clutching your bestie with tears in your eyes, it was the kind of finale that left every fan wanting just one more song.

With a stacked setlist, genuine heart, and serious entertainment value, Thomas Rhett’s Better in Boots Tour proves that he’s in a league of his own this summer. From emotional moments in the crowd to flirty stage banter and pure country gold, it’s the kind of show that reminds you why you fell in love with live music in the first place. The 35-year-old isn’t just a performer — he’s a storyteller, a heartthrob and your new favorite hype man all rolled into one.

If you’re thinking about catching a show this summer, consider this your sign. Next up is a milestone performance at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park on July 19 — which is officially sold out.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to headline a baseball stadium. I think I have like 400 of my family and friends coming out to that show,” TR told us backstage at the 2025 iHeartCountry Festival in Austin back in May.

“Hearing the words ‘officially sold out’ about a place I’ve always dreamed of playing in is absolutely mind blowing. That 21 year old kid here would never believe me. See y’all Saturday,” he shared on Instagram just yesterday (July 17) with a throwback snap outside the famed venue.
