New details regarding Aaron Carter’s death has surfaced.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has officially determined the musician drowned in November after first deferring the determination of his cause of death.
Alprazolam, a drug marketed as Xanax, and the compressed gas difluoroethane were identified as secondary causes. His passing was declared an accident, and the investigation is now closed.
The full coroner’s report obtained by TMZ states that Aaron became “incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects” of the substances and drowned.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a report from the home sitter who discovered an unconscious male in the bathtub at about 11:00 a.m. PT prompted deputies from the Lancaster station to come quickly but was soon pronounced dead after deputies and fire department officials arrived — despite the advice to the home sitter to perform CPR. The sitter’s identity has yet to verified by the Sheriff’s Office.
Following the news of Aaron’s passing, a number of his fans, fellow celebrities, and family members paid tribute, including his brother Nick Carter to the former child star who rose to fame with hits like “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It).”

“My heart is broken,” the Backstreet Boys member, who also honored Aaron at one of the band’s concerts, wrote on Instagram (November 6).
“Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”
