Carpool Karaoke is going out with a bang.
Ahead of the final edition of The Late Late Show on April 27, James Corden’s best friend Adele offered him a touching trip to work. The comedian and singer both became emotional while talking about their enduring friendship, their award-winning careers, and other topics in the last Carpool Karaoke film, which was released on April 24.
But first, Adele’s dubious driving abilities caused their journey to get off to a comically bumpy start.
“I’m not a brilliant driver,” the GRAMMY winner admitted after picking James up from his home. “I also can’t sing without closing my eyes.”
Soon after, Corden, who was now feeling anxious, remarked on how near the “Hello” singer was to the vehicle in front of them. She laughed as she stated, “I’ve got precious cargo,” and added, “I know if I crash you’ll keep it in the f–king edit.”

Along with singing some of her fan favorite hits, such as “Rolling in the Deep,” “Love Is a Game,” “I Drink Wine,” and “Hometown Glory,” Adele also broke down in tears as she recalled how James and his wife Julia Carey helped her and her son Angelo after she and ex-husband Simon Konecki divorced in 2019.
“It was like the first year that I felt like I had to hold myself accountable for just being an adult,” she explained, “whereas the year before, I left Simon and stuff like that. But you and Jules and the kids were so integral in looking after me and Angelo and I remember you used to do it with humor as well. You’d be like, ‘Good luck with that one,’ with anything I was pursuing. You were always like an adult to me—you and Julia—and you’d always give me advice.”

Later, James broke down in tears as he contemplated leaving Adele in Los Angeles when his show ends once he and his family return to England.
“It’s blown my mind you’ve done this for me,” he told her. “I love you and we have had the best times here. Our friendship and our families’ friendship, it has nothing to do with distance.”
