According to Ajeet, life is full of beauty, but also temporary.
The Boston-born, Ireland-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter dives into the deep sense of longing while giving a glimpse of something vast that people carry within on her new single “Water and Sky,” which is available now on all streaming platforms.
A tribute to her late grandmother, Ajeet tells Celeb Secrets that the track was written during her passing where “she felt closer to the more vast experience of life.”
Originally a solo ballad with a worldly sound, the singer/songwriter shared the track with fellow musician Sam Garrett. After hearing the moving track, Garrett was inspired to join her on it, writing his own verse for the track in a stairwell with great reverb in Portugal.
“I shared [‘Water and Sky’] with Sam and we shared stories of our dances with life and letting go. He was inspired to add his own words to the song, recording in a hotel with great natural reverb in Porto, Portugal. This dialogue was a beautiful one for me, as is the music that came of it,” Ajeet says.
“Water and Sky” is featured on Ajeet’s latest album Let It Breathe, which dropped this past Friday, October 14. Written, produced and engineered all on her own, the new project has a unique sound, as Ajeet blends genres in a way that makes her work accessible to anyone. She’s inspired by trailblazing artists like Nila Frahm and Björk as well as classic acts like Joni Mitchell and Carol King.
