After five weeks of fierce competition, enthralling performances, and painfully high stakes, live shows for season 17 of America’s Got Talent officially came to a close last night (September 6).
This season, the live shows were a different format; 55 contestants competed for 10 spots in the grand finale every Tuesday with hopes of being crowned the winner of the most-watched reality competition series on television.
After seeing a golden buzzer saxophonist to a deranged comedian singing about parmesan cheese, the first installment of live shows set the bar high for the most-watched reality competition series. Week two also saw exceptional talent, as we were treated to performances from a wide range of entertainers, including badass country girl groups and aerialist couples that were literally flying through the air. Unfortunately, things started to take a turn in week three, as we witnessed an array of disasters that included pitchy singing and a TikTok going wrong in real-time, and week four had us questioning what type of talent show AGT really is.
