The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers also known as ASCAP, hosted its 16th Annual ASCAP Women Behind the Music Event at The Fleur Room in West Hollywood on Wednesday (November 12) to celebrate and honor female trailblazers like songwriters, artists and executives in the music community.
All eyes were on GRAMMY Award-winning singer and songwriter Coco Jones, Emmy-winning composer Amanda Jones, and GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and advocate Autumn Rowe, as ASCAP Rhythm & Soul honored the women for their leadership, art, and contributions to the music industry.

Upon accepting her award, Jones thanked ASCAP for the integral role they played in her career since she was 12-years-old.
“I’m so grateful for ASCAP who connected me with great writers to come together and make powerful music,” she said to guests in attendance. “With R&B, I hope that we can continue to break those barriers and expand all that it can be because I think it is so big. The potential is so limitless to have soul and vulnerability everywhere you go.”
Jones was also very thankful for the special moment, as she said, “Thank you everyone. It’s just an incredible vibrant community that we’re part of and that’s what I’m grateful for.”
Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP Senior Vice President of Membership, presented each honoree with a personalized plaque and a custom handbag from luxury designer Maya Winston.

While reflecting on her journey, Rowe mentioned that receiving a recognition from ASCAP has been a lifelong goal. She expressed with joy and gratitude by saying that she “always wanted to be a part of ASCAP.”
“In New York, I’d walked past the building and just thought it was the coolest thing ever, so this is very full circle to be here,” she mentioned.
Rowe also dedicated her award every women around the world, especially women in music.
“It means a lot to me that we’re celebrating women in a time where the world is not, so, let’s continue to celebrate women,” she said.
“Coco, Amanda… both of you are incredible women, and every single woman in here, every single woman in music that has continued and has not given up, I celebrate all of you because it’s hard. This industry not made for us, and songwriting is really hard. A lot of it has not been for us, but we’re still breaking through. I celebrate all of you tonight,” she continued.
