Three months after Bachelor Nation watched Blake Moynes get down on one knee to ask for Thurston’s hand in marriage on national television, the two split. The former Bachelorette, Katie Thurston, took to Instagram Monday afternoon (October 25) to announce the breakup.
“It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways,” the 30-year-old captioned a black and white photo. “We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently.”

She continued to ask her followers for respect, “We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition. Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”
The season 25 alum, Blake Moynes, shared the same caption on his personal Instagram account and paired it with a joyful photo from Katies “After the Final Rose” segment on ABC’s The Bachelorette.

The split did not come as a surprise to Bachelor Nation, as the couple went their separate ways after the onscreen proposal. In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, the leading lady shared that she moved to San Diego, as Moynes traveled the world for his job.
“I’m, like, totally winging my life right now,” says Thurston to US Weekly while backstage at Whitney Cummings‘ Touch Me Tour On Friday, October 22. “We’re figuring it out. We don’t know. This is very new to us still. I’m just focusing on myself, he’s focusing on him, and if we work doing that, great,” she concluded.
Following his return to the states after rescuing rhinos in Africa earlier this month, Moynes dedicated his energy to his relationship with Thurston. Just on Wednesday, October 20 – the former Bachelor contestant praised his fiancé for her bravery to do stand-up comedy. “The face you make when you realize your fiancé has bigger balls than you!!⚾️⚾️,” says Moynes in an Instagram caption after the 38-year-old made her comedy debut. “S–t, I thought crashing a group date game me them… I don’t think I could ever even attempt to stand up comedy. Super proud and excited for you @thekatiethurston!”

However, it seems like the supportive caption rubbed the former Bachelorette the wrong way, as she told US Weekly that she was “surprised” that he supported her publicly, but to say “‘you have such big balls.’ No, it’s p–sy power, okay?” shared the sex-positive reality star.
Before the big announcement and comedy debut, she warned her followers about her rocky relationship, as she explained the harsh reality of doing long-distance via Instagram stories in August.
“I don’t think people fully understand what it’s like to date someone from another country and the rules behind that and the visas behind that,” shares Thurston. “I think right now Blake can only be here for 60 days before having to go back to Canada, so we really do have a lot we have to look into – and we just haven’t yet – before we can plan really anything else.”
