Katherine Hernandez is turning off her webcam for good.
Barbie Ferreira announced Wednesday that she will not be reprising her role as Kat Hernandez in season 3 of Euphoria.
In an Instagram story, the actress, 25, wrote, “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye.”
Alongside a drawing of Kat that was gifted to her by her co-star Hunter Schafer, she continued with, “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today.”
Fans saw less of Kat in season 2 of the hit HBO show that received 16 Emmy nominations this year. She told Entertainment Tonight that’s because it’s a “huge cast” and “everyone gets their time.”
In season one, Kat Hernandez explores her sexuality as a plus size woman by starring in her own online videos and writing erotic fan fiction online. She ends up coming into her own, owning a more dominatrix and body positive side to herself.
But it seems in season 2, Kat has a bit of a regression, struggling with her body image and gas lighting her boyfriend Ethan Daley (Austin Abrams) into breaking up with her.
While the second season aired, rumors started swirling that there were issues between herself and the show’s creator, Sam Levinson. The Daily Beast reported in February that the drop in screen time was because of this potential rift.
It alleged that the 25-year-old walked off set twice because of disagreements as to what direction her character was going in.

But it seems Ferreira shut down those rumors in March when she spoke with Insider.
“Sometimes, things take on a life of their own, and they’re not rooted in the truth, but it’s OK because I know it’s just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff,” she told Insider. “And I signed up for it. So, I’ll take it. I’ll take the good and the bad.”
Euphoria was renewed for season 3 earlier this year, following a record breaking premiere and on-going success.
The actress concluded her statement, “I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. love you Katherine Hernandez.”
