Big Time Rush Releases High-Energy Fourth Studio Album “Another Life” Since Reuniting in 2021 (Review)

Whether you grew up with them or are fans of them now, Big Time Rush is giving you new music to jam out to thanks to the release of their newest album Another Life

The 10-track project, which is available beginning today (June 2) on all music streaming platforms, marks the first body of work in nearly a decade from the former Nickelodeon stars and showcases their new era of music since reuniting back in December of 2021.

Over the past month, band members Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, James Maslow, and Carlos PenaVega set the bar high for their new project by posting fill-in-the-blank word challenges and 15-second music teasers to their 2.3 million followers on TikTok, ultimately giving Rushers — aka their most dedicated fans — something to look forward to this summer.

After listening to the album from start to finish multiple times (because who wouldn’t voluntarily do that), we broke down Another Life track by track to give you a rundown on what you can expect from one of the most bumpin’ records of 2023.

Adding a contemporary twist to their traditional sound that fans know and love, Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan make you want to jump around and wave your hands in the air from the moment the album starts by kicking it off with their single “I Can’t Get Enough.” Giving that true ~boy band energy~ they did in the early 2010s, BTR transitions into their second track, “Waves,” which has been making waves all over the Internet with over 825K views on its cheeky music video.

Still keeping the energy high, the record then flows into “I Just Want To (Party All The Time),” which makes us literally want to party 🥳 all 🥳 the 🥳 time 🥳. This song gives fans the opportunity to hear the band’s killer harmonies while taking them on the ride of a lifetime with an epic beat drop.

On a more serious note, the guys tell a relatable story on their fourth track, “Weekends,” which follows two individuals who find themselves slowly drifting apart from each other.  Bringing the energy level back to a ten, Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos put their own spin on hyper-pop with “Work for It,” putting an emphasis on the beats and symbols in production. We’re not lying when we tell you that “Work For It” is already on our gym playlist 🏋️‍♀️.

For the halfway mark of Another Life, Big Time Rush reunites with 3-time Latin GRAMMY Award-winning producer Maffio for their latest collaboration, “Forget You Now.” The song has a ton of gospel and euphoria-esque beats, making it an ultimate summer anthem. Aligning with their “brand new” era of music, relationships and chapter of their career, the guys chose a slower song for the record’s seventh track — titled “Brand New” — which is all about someone coming into their life and making them feel brand new. It’s truly our favorite song on Another Life as we love the personal story that’s told throughout the track.

Keeping things on the more mellow side, track eight is an acoustic love song titled “Ask You Tonight,” which can easily be the wedding song of the season thanks to its sweet lyrics and soft melodies. For their second to last song, BTR brings all the groovy vibes with “Superstitious,” as it makes you want to stop whatever you’re doing and vibe with its breezy sound. To cap things off, BTR closes their fourth studio album with the title track “Another Life.” Reminiscent of their 2010 smash hit “Big Time Rush,” the song has the same message of not waiting for another opportunity, but taking the one right in front of you while you can.

Another Life showcases both musical and personal growth from Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan, making this album some of their best work yet. It proves to the world that they weren’t just a teen boy band from the 2010s, as each band member holds equal weight when it comes to impressive harmonies and show-stopping dance moves. It’s why they were able to come back on the music scene like the never left and sell out major markets throughout the U.S. and Latin America. We can’t wait to see where Another Life takes the band this year and beyond!

You can hear Another Life along with other BTR classics when they hit the road this summer on their Can’t Get Enough Tour 2023Kicking things off on June 22 in Fort Worth, Texas, Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos will hit amphitheaters in major cities like New York, Boston, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas before taking their music south of the border with three shows in Mexico — Mexico City on August 18, Guadalajara on August 21 and Monterrey on August 23.
