During Labor Day weekend, Chris Hopgood and Ryan Beckley competed in a famous boat race known as the P1 Offshore St. Petersburg Powerboat Grand Prix. The driver/throttle duo was sponsored by the famous energy drink brand CELSIUS Energy Drink.
With CELSIUS being the Official Energy Drink and Series Partner for P1 Offshore, Hopgood and Beckley were lucky enough to be sponsored by them.
When asked about this sponsorship, Hopgood told Celeb Secrets reporter Rob Cao,” It’s an honor to be represented by such a great brand, couldn’t be happier.”
CELSIUS is known as a healthy alternative to other sugary energy drinks due mainly to the fact that CELSIUS contains zero sugar. In recent memory, CELSIUS has built a loyal customer base due to the drink brand’s reliability and consistency.
The P1 Offshore Powerboat Grand Pix is a yearly competition taking place in different cities around the country. This specific Grand Pix race in the St. Petersburg/Tampa area contained powerboat and jet ski racing. The competition also consisted of multiple divisions: Class 1, Super Cat, 450R Factory Stock, Mod V, Stock V, Bracket Class 400, Bracket Class 500, Bracket Class 600, Bracket Class 700, and the division Hopgood and Beckley were in, Super Stock.
The Super Stock class of boats is currently the fastest growing class of offshore racing. Chris and Ryan’s S-43 CELSIUS Super Stock boat is a 32-foot catamaran with multiple engines that allow the boat to go up to 115 miles per hour.
When speaking of his partnership with Beckley, Hopgood said,” I first met Ryan in the early 2000s and had always respected him, but this will be our first time racing together.” Hopgood said what excites him most about competing with Beckley, “Ryan has experience under his belt, including winning national championships.” What Chris said about being excited to partner up with Ryan due to his championship experience should be something that people should use as an example, whether you are an athlete, or anything else, if you have the opportunity of having someone with more experience and more knowledge than you, you should always try to take advantage of the situation by picking their brain and simply trying to learn from them.

The S-43 CELSIUS boat racing team earned sixth overall in the Super Stock division, which contained nine teams. Although the outcome was not what either man wanted, Chris and Ryan should still be proud of themselves for going out and competing in this very tough and competitive boat racing competition.
