Charli D’Amelio is going from TikTok screens to the big screen!
Deadline reports that D’Amelio has landed her first major acting role for the feature film, Home School. Directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, the film is reported to be a supernatural thriller.
According to the outlet, D’Amelio is set to play Mira, a 17-year-old that moves to a different town after her mother passed away. Mira goes to live with her aunt, and when she makes the move, she begins to realize that her mom’s death and her life are intertwined supernaturally.
D’Amelio shared her thoughts on the role, “As soon as I read Home School, I knew it was for me. I connected with the character, Mira, the story, the story, the script, and the team. I knew if I was going to do a movie, it needed to be something fun, edgy, and fresh.” D’Amelio also acknowledged the challenge of the role but is excited about taking on acting.
Ryan Kavanaugh, the head of the media company for the film, talked about the inspiration for the film, “We are going for ‘The Sixth Sense’ meets ‘Get Out.’” Home School is reported to begin production starting July.
