Chase Matthew Talks Forthcoming Sophomore Album “Come Get Your Memory” (Exclusive)

Nashville native Chase Matthew is a force to be reckoned with.

On the heels of his critically acclaimed project, Born For This – the promising new artist is already gearing up to release his sophomore album.

Matthew, best known for his wide vocal range and rebellious songwriting, gave country music fans a taste of what’s to come (April 7) with the title track “Come Get Your Memory.”

Ahead of the release, the fast-rising singer caught up with Celeb Secrets reporter Juliet Schroder on the aqua carpet at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. While dressed in a chic black blazer and a belt buckle the size of Texas, the crooner exclusively dished on his upcoming record and his success thus far.

“It’s actually my first time on the CMT carpet, so it’s a special night for me,” shared Matthew, full of excitement. “It’s really cool that I’m able to be here, especially for the first time in Austin. So grateful.”

While many newcomers might have butterflies fluttering in their stomachs before the highly anticipated evening, Matthew looked like a natural alongside the other musicians at Austin’s Moody Center, stating that he had “no worries.” In fact, he’s been waiting for this moment his entire career!

“I kind of feel like maybe it’s because I want to be here so bad,” he said about his refreshing outlook. “I’ve dreamed of it for so long. So, I’m just glad to be here, and I’m definitely not going to let my nervousness get the best of me.”

Being in the public eye is not Matthew’s first rodeo. His artistry has changed the trajectory of his life, as he is now a touring vocalist with an impressive repertoire. In March, Matthew took his first step into the sacred circle at the Grand Ole Opry to make his long-awaited debut. The “Love You Again” singer said that the significant milestone was a surreal moment that he got to celebrate with his family.

“Opry was crazy,” he recalled. “Many people don’t get that opportunity, and I got to share the moment with my family. I feel so humbled, and I always remember I do this for them too. They have pushed me to chase my dreams, and getting to share that moment with them was definitely special. I can’t wait to do it again.”

The Warner Music Nashville artist touches upon his family and Tennessee upbringing in his upcoming album. The 25-track project will also include heartbreak ballads, dance-worthy bangers, and drinking songs like “Where There’s Smoke” or “Outlaw Gospel.”

“I’m excited for it,” he noted with a beaming smile. “It’s one of the biggest bodies of work I’ve ever released and one that I’m the most proud of. A little bit of something for everybody in there.”

Matthew worked alongside esteemed songsmiths on Music Row, such as Jordan Minton, Jacob Howard, Alex Maxwell, ERNEST, Jim McCormick, Ashley Gorley, and more. The collection is due to drop on June 9. Until the release, fans can catch Matthew out on the road at notable festivals nationwide. For upcoming appearances and tickets, visit chasematthew.com.
