After 10 months of dating, Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus officially called it quits. in August 2020.
Making the decision back in August 2020, there are no hard feelings between the exes since they have moved on from their COVID-era romance.
During an appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, the 25-year-old spoke about his 2020 breakup with Cyrus, and said it was mainly due to “circumstance.” The couple got together in October 2019.

According to People, Simpson said on Monday (April 18), “it was kind of a mutual decision between us, knowing that we were sort of going in different directions in our life.”
He continued with, “I had just started training at that point so my life was changing a lot and I knew I was going to Australia to do it properly and professionally. She was going into her whole new album and was going to be going out on tour and doing all that stuff, so it was kind of a fork in the road kind of scenario, really.”
Simpson is currently training for the 2024 Olympic Games that will take place in Paris. He is a competitive swimmer, training to compete and represent Australia during the summer games. Cyrus, on the other hand, released her album Plastic Hearts in November 2020 and has been playing multiple festival dates worldwide.
The singer, musician, and competitive swimmer said, “[It’s] a no hard feeling kind of thing.” “We were in different places. We had a great, amazing year together and everything. We lived together during all the COVID lockdowns and stuff. We had a lot of fun.”
According to the “Calm” singer, Cyrus never discussed in their relationship about her separation with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
“We’d move on from all the past at that point. But yeah, it just was what it was,” he said. “Circumstances, really.”

In May of 2021, Cyrus has been seen kissing musician Maxx Morando in West Hollywood. Morando was the former drummer for The Regrettes, and now plays with band Liily. Morando and Simpson had known each other for several years before they got romantically involved and that “everything ended fairly amicably.”
He told 60 Minutes Australia that, “We went from kind of being good friends and just having a lot of the same friends to being together for a while.”
In August 2020, she said that she and her ex were “individually working on” themselves.
“Don’t make it some drama story if next week we hang out and we’re getting pizza,” she said. “We’ve been friends for 10 years, and we’re going to continue to be friends. Just don’t make it something that it is not.”
