After publicly sharing that he was gay back in April, Colton Underwood is embracing his sexuality in whole new journey of facing life’s struggles in his newest Netflix series Coming Out Colton.
The former football player reveals how difficult it was for him to accept being gay, turning to things like football, The Bachelor and faith.
“I never thought I was going to come out,” Underwood says in the trailer. “I thought I was going to die with this secret.
In the clip, Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy also joins Underwood to give him guidance throughout his transition into acceptance. He’s also seen revealing his biggest secret to his father on camera while fishing, worrying about what his dad will think. His journey into the LGBTQ+ community is one that will take lots of healing, embracing and acceptance as he must start with facing himself and discovering who he is.

Many believe that he’s using his coming out story as a way to deflect from the issues he faced with his former ex-girlfriend and frontrunner on the show, Cassie Randolph. The two first met during Underwood’s season of The Bachelor back in 2019, before announcing their split in May 2020. Randolph soon after filed a restraining order against him later that year for stalking and harassment. Both of Underwood’s parents and friend are seen talking about the situation that spiraled out of control.
“Cassie filed a restraining order against you,” Scott Underwood says. “You went off the rails.”
