Dolphins & Seahawks Make Playoffs With Game-Winning Kicks

The last two spots in the NFL playoffs were filled none other than the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks, clinching their ticket to the postseason on game-winning field goals.

Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders nailed a 50-yard field goal with eighteen seconds left in the fourth quarter of the team’s 11-6 win over the New York Jets.

In comparison, Jason Myers of the Seahawks nailed a 32-yard field goal in overtime to beat the Rams 19-16.

Both of these teams have had some pretty cool storylines this season, but each has dropped off as of late, as the Dolphins had come into week eighteen on a five-game losing streak while the Seahawks had lost five of their last seven games. With that said, despite the struggles and injuries, both teams overcame everything, earned their spots into the playoffs, and now have the chance to bring a Super Bowl dub home to their respective cities.

Miami came into this season with a rookie head coach and third-year quarterback following an offseason in which an overhaul was done after acquiring superstar wideout Tyreek Hill. Then, the Dolphins were at a point where they were 8-3 and decided to be aggressive and trade for Pro-Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos before the NFL trade deadline.

As for Seattle, the team came into the season with few expectations after trading away long-time franchise QB Russell Wilson after he had requested to be traded from his long-time home. With that said, Geno Smith beat out the recently acquired Drew Lock and earned the starting nod to be the team’s lead signal-caller, and many are saying the long-time backup is the favorite to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. In the team’s regular-season finale, Smith passed his predecessor, Wilson, to become the franchise’s all-time leading passer in a single season.

With that said, both of these teams find themselves as the biggest underdogs of the Super Wild Card Weekend as they are each ten-point underdogs, but at the end of the day, each of these clubs has found a way to overcome obstacles and will need to do so once again to keep their season alive and move on to the second round of the 2023 NFL postseason.

The Dolphins will look to pick up a massive win on the road for their season’s second matchup in Buffalo against the Bills.

The Seahawks will travel to San Francisco to try and beat their division rivals, the 49ers.
