The Miami Dolphins and Chris Grier are at it again as the team has improved their linebacking group by bringing in David Long Jr. on a two-year deal worth $11 million. Long spent the first four years of his career with the Titans and is coming off his best season.

Long joins a Dolphins defense that already added all-pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Sunday while already having a nucleus that includes Christian Wilkins, Jaelan Phillips, and Jevon Holland, to name a few. What stands out heavily about Long’s game is his ability to move so quickly, which is very rare at the linebacker position, and his excellent job in pass coverage, which is also a rare trait found in a linebacker.
Jerome Baker and Elandon Roberts have headlined Miami’s linebacking core for the past few years. The two veterans have done a great job fulfilling what Miami has needed, but it seems the Dolphins wanted to find a different type of linebacker to add to their group. Speaking of Dolphins linebackers, the team has decided to re-sign Duke Riley to a two-year deal worth over $3 million. Riley has spent the last two seasons with Miami after spending some time with the Falcons and Eagles, including winning a Super Bowl in Philly.
