The Fast and Furious team has already claimed victory in several dangerous battles by helping a friend escape prison, fighting tanks and even making a car fly. To create an unseen plot that will shock audiences around the globe, it looks like they’ll have to travel to outer space for the ninth movie, and that’s exactly what they intend to do!
Just this morning (April 14), the second trailer for Fast and Furious 9 made its YouTube premiere on Universal Pictures UK along with several other film-oriented channels. The action-jammed sneak peek leaves viewers with a lot to unpack, so it only makes sense that they’ve garnered thousands of views in such a short span.
Much like the first trailer that launched back in January 2020, the new preview draws us in with a traditional family scene. Our hearts simply melt as we watch Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) and Leticia “Letty” Ortiz (played by Michelle Rodriguez) joking around with their son and chilling with friends in a scenic country location.
Although the initial vibes seem relaxing and reflective, it doesn’t stay this way for long. After a few seconds of flashbacks, the gang quickly gathers for a reunion where they plot their next big adventure.
Major spoiler alert: Dominic’s long-lost brother Jakob Toretto (played by John Cena) makes an appearance, but it’s not the conventional family get-together we were hoping for. Instead, Jakob hopes to take down his brother throughout the upcoming film.
Is it revenge? Does Dominic have any secrets for us to uncover soon? It looks like we’ll have to watch the movie to find out while clenching our popcorn bowls in angst.
Cena dishes he’s absolutely stoked about the memories he made with the Fast and Furious cast behind the scenes of the ninth film. He tells nearly 13-million Twitter followers that it was an “unbelievable experience,” filled with “excitement from start to finish.”
The newest trailer shows us a plot that only ramps up, leaving us on an epic cliffhanger. In the midst of a hectic battle filled with loud screams and burning flames, the Fast and Furious squad somehow flees the dangerous scene by launching into space. Of course, this leaves us with a plethora of questions, but we’ll have to wait until June 25 for all the answers.
