From TikTok to the Red Carpet – Straw Hat Goofy is Cashing in on his Love for Movies

Do you ever wish you could make a living talking about your favorite thing? For Juju Green, that’s exactly what he’s doing.

You may know him on TikTok as Straw Hat Goofy. He’s the charismatic, movie loving commentator who gives recommendations, inside secrets and breaks down what he thinks worked and didn’t work in films and tv shows.

Like so many people on TikTok, Green downloaded the app in 2020 because it “looked kind of fun.” He started out performing dances and lip-sync challenges on the social media app, according to Business Insider. Shortly after, he started incorporating his conversations in the real world into his internet world.

“You always think in the back of your mind like, ‘what if I become famous’- not like I’m doing this to become famous- so I was kind of like ‘it would be cool if became famous, what would that look like?’ and then the videos started blowing up,” Green told Celeb Secrets reporter Blakely McHugh at Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con Bash in San Diego last month.

His account really started to take off when his video breaking down “Avengers: Endgame” went viral, Green told Business Insider. From there, thousands of views turned into tens of thousands, which turned into hundreds of thousands, which turned into millions.

In fact, his video revealing the moments where Pixar discreetly leaked what animated movie would be released next, reached over 28 million people. Another one of his videos, breaking down the connection between rain and Pepa Madrigal in “Encanto”, gained 10.1 million views.

“I wasn’t prepared for my schedule to blow up. Now when people [ask] me ‘hey you want to go out tonight?’ I actually have to check my schedule!”

Since then, the TikToker has been a “busy man.” He’s been invited to numerous red carpet events, attended the 2022 Oscars where he interviewed celebrities on the red carpet, and has amassed 3.1 million followers on TikTok.

Despite all that, Green doesn’t consider himself “famous.” So, why is that?

According to him, he’s not tall enough.

“I’m not Aldis Hodge, he’s taller [and] more handsome. I feel like I need two more inches to be famous.”
