Winter is coming… again!
HBO Max has just announced the premiere date for the prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon.
Set for August 21, 2022, fans were quick to share their excitement on social media moments after the news was announced.

HBO Max followed their announcement with a series of photos captioned with the names of the new characters in the series, including King Viserys Targaryen and Prince Daemon Targaryen. For those wondering how they relate to prior Game of Thrones characters, Viserys is Daenerys older brother, and Daemon is her uncle.
The series will feature 10 new episodes that take a focus 200 years before the Game of Thrones era. The series will concentrate on the Targaryen household and their time in power. Specifically, how the house got into the Dance of Dragons, which was a terrible civil war and the start of their downfall.
House of the Dragon is based on the novel written by the author, George R.R. Martin, titled “Fire & Blood”. The cast of the new series features a set of fresh new faces, including Emma D’Arcy (Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen), Paddy Considine (King Viserys Targaryen), Matt Smith (Prince Daemon Targaryen), and more!
