After airing in 32 countries and resulting in 180 marriages and 410 children, FOX is bringing a fresh take on reality dating to the US with a reimagined version of Farmer Wants A Wife beginning today (March 8th).
Hosted by superstar entertainer and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Nettles, Farmer Wants A Wife follows four hard-working farmers — Ryan Black, Allen Foster, Hunter Grayson and Landon Heaton — in search of real, lasting love.
Each week, viewers will see the farmers host a group of single women who leave behind the comfort and convenience of city life for the charms and challenges of country living, as they embark on an adventure that could change the course of their lives forever. Throughout the journey, the farmers show each group what it is really like on an actual working farm, from tending to the land, feeding cattle and baling hay, to the behind-the-scenes business operations.
“It was eye-opening experience,” farmer Landon Heaton tells Celeb Secrets reporter Juliet Schroder about being on the show exclusively in a virtual junket. “I feel like I had a little tunnel vision as far as what I was interested in, and then I met these girls from so many different walks of life and I began to appreciate things that I didn’t even know were out there.”
“Being in that atmosphere dating eight different women with a camera in your face was a totally different experience for all of us. There were some challenges, but I think once that part was set in reality wise, the cameras and stuff were just background noise,” Hunter Grayson adds.
While the entire process was only two months long, each farmer tells Celeb Secrets that they took away so much from the experience, teasing that there actually might be a happily ever after by the season finale.
“I had very low expectations for this show as far as me finding somebody, and I could not have been more surprised,” Landon says.
“It was wonderful and beautiful experience in its own light. There was so much personal growth that happened, and you’re gonna see all this transpire over the next few weeks,” Hunter adds. “I think I can speak for everybody on this part when I say as time progresses, you’ll see how more natural everything feels when we build those connections and everything just gets to rolling and it becomes really a well-oiled machine.”
“I grew more in those two months [of filming] than I’ve I have in a decade. I learned so much about myself and about women and the different women that came through, and as a gentleman, you know, with our backgrounds, we’re taught to respect women and take care of them and all those things. So when you have eight at once, you become so well-rounded as a man,” farmer Ryan Black continues. “It it was just like shocking to my inner core of a man to learn and listen and instead of it just being one woman. It was it was amazing and the growth was amazing.”
And although the guys put it all on the line when trying to find their forever person, they say there were some really fun, light-hearted moments fans will not get to see when new episodes air.
“There were a lot of funny moments with the production team. A lot of those guys and gals were from LA and different big cities and they were kind of like fish outta water,” Allen shares. “I got several chuckles a day helping them understand and learn about the farm life while getting the right shots.”
“Our cows hated drones,” Ryan laughed. “They tried to film them in a big group and they just scattered.”
