Injury Plagued Cardinals and Saints to face off on Thursday Night Football; Hopkins Returns

Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season will kick off in the home of this season’s Super Bowl, State Farm Stadium, as the Arizona Cardinals will host the New Orleans Saints. Both NFC teams come into the contest with a 2-4 record.

The Cardinals will be without their number one wide receiver so far in the recently acquired Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, as he suffered a fracture in his foot in the team’s week 6 19-9 loss to the Seahawks; however, they will be getting back their number one receiver from a season ago and arguably the best receiver in the game, DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins was suspended for the first six weeks of the season due to a positive drug test showing that he had taken performance-enhancing drugs. Therefore, it will be a massive boost for the Cardinals offense and team as a whole, as last season with Hopkins, the Cardinals were between a top-five to top-ten offense throughout the season.

It would have been ideal to see both Hopkins and Brown playing together. However, due to Brown’s unfortunate injury, the Cardinals did make a trade this week in which they acquired wide receiver Robbie Anderson from the Panthers in exchange for some draft picks.

This is in no way an upgrade, as Brown has been better than Anderson throughout his career. Still, a change of scenery may be beneficial to Anderson after having a struggling start to the season on the field with Carolina as well as off of the field when this past week in the Panthers week six 24-10 loss to the Rams, Anderson and Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks got into an altercation on the sidelines.

As for the Saints, they will be without two of their top three receiving options as veteran wideouts Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas will be unavailable to participate in the action tonight. Landry has been nursing an ankle injury; while Thomas is battling a foot injury. Someone uncertain of playing due to a concussion was rookie star wideout Chris Olave; he has been removed from the injury report and will be playing tonight.

As for the other side of the ball for Arizona, keep an eye on their number one cornerback Byron Murphy who has been shutting down many star receivers this season, including Rams superstar Cooper Kupp; it will be exciting to see how Olave performs against Murphy.

With a win tonight, one of these teams can start a turnaround for their season, as the season is still young; we shall see who the better team will be tonight.

As for predictions, we believe the Cardinals will win 25-19, and DeAndre Hopkins will have at least one touchdown in his season debut.
