Get your web slingers ready! Issa Rae has joined the voice cast of Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rae will voice “Jessica Drew,” also known as Spider-Woman in the Marvel Comics. She will be in the company of Shameik Moore (Miles Morales) and Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen Stacy).
The film is a sequel to the Oscar award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which came out in 2018. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham will write the script. Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson will serve as directors. Plot details have yet to be revealed.

In a series of Instagram stories, the Insecure star reacted to the news and response from the public.
She wrote, “The way I have loved Spider-Man since the third grade. A dream come true. 🕷”

In a video, she said, “Thank y’all for all the love today. Thank you. The positivity, the well wishes, the texts…it means so much. I don’t talk about sh*t often, I don’t get hype about sh*t, but I’m hype about this one. So thank you for the love.”

After seeing John Mulaney as Spider-Ham and Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir in the first one, we can only imagine who could be joining the Spider-Verse next!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is scheduled to be released on October 7th, 2022.
