Week nine of the 2022-23 NFL season kicked off with a bang on Thursday Night Football as the visiting Philadelphia Eagles flew into Houston and beat the Texans 29-17 to remain unbeaten at 8-0.
The Eagles were led by a dominant performance from big defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, another solid performance from safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and solid contributions from a couple of guys on the offense, including tight end Dallas Goedert and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hargrave led the Eagles defense by sacking Texans quarterback Davis Mills three times in the contest; he also had seven tackles in the game.

Another player to highlight on the defensive side of the ball for Philly is safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson who picked off Davis Mills for his league-leading fifth interception of the season; Gardner-Johnson now has at least one interception in four consecutive ballgames, becoming just the first Eagles player to complete the feat since two time all-pro Bill Bradley did it fifty years ago in 1972.

On the offensive side of the ball for Philadelphia, it was another terrific game for superstar tight end Dallas Goedert who had eight receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown in the game; that touchdown pass to Goedert was one of two touchdown passes on the night for Jalen Hurts who threw another touchdown to superstar wideout A.J. Brown. Also contributing nicely on the night was running back Miles Sanders, who ended the primetime matchup with 93 yards on the ground on 17 carries to go along with a touchdown.

As for the Texans, they played their tails off as the Lovie Smith-led team started the game off with an early 7-0 lead and were held at just a three-point deficit at halftime, but in the second half of the ball game, that magic from the first half kind of wore off, and the Eagles just took solid control of this.
Someone who was an absolute stud from beginning to end was Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce, who had such an impressive performance in the first primetime game of his career, finishing the contest with 139 yards on the ground in 27 opportunities. The rookie fourth-round pick out of Florida looks more and more like a steal game by game.

All in all, the team that was expected to win did indeed come out on top; with that said, the Eagles will now prepare for their week ten matchup in another primetime game, this time on Monday Night Football, as they host division rivals, the Washington Commanders and will look to keep their undefeated season alive.
As for the Texans, they will look to build off of the positives of this one and travel to New York for a week ten matchup against the New York Football Giants, who currently sit at 6-2 on the season.
