New York fashion designer Jonathan Simkhai opened his flagship store in Los Angeles to friends, family, and press for an evening of fashion, fun, and fundraising in support of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 5th Annual Make March Matter campaign on Tuesday (March 10th).
Together with actress January Jones, the event showcased Simkhai’s latest spring collection and jewelry by Coly Los Angeles. Tuesday’s event marked Simkhai’s second year participating in the campaign, along with his luxury ready-to-wear pieces, that virtually flew off the racks during the two hour event.
Jones wore a boldly patterned black and gold halter dress by Simkhai with over the knee boots as she greeted guests that included Real Housewife of Orange County alum Meghan King Edmonds, actress Tamin Sursok and others.
I personally enjoyed tasting all the finger foods while mingling with all the fashionable guests, including the two hosts of the evening. We chatted about fashion and the importance of giving back to the community, and Simkhai said events like these are “a win, win all around.”
A win all around, indeed!
15% of all the proceeds from the evening were donated to the Make March Matter campaign, a month-long initiative that encourages businesses in the Los Angeles area to fundraise and maintain programs that provide life-saving care to more than 600,000 children per year in Los Angeles and Coachella Valley. Simkhai also plans to continue donating to the cause throughout the rest of the month.
Individuals can participate in this year’s campaign in very accessible ways including buying coffee at a local coffee shop, dining with family and friends at a local restaurant, shopping at a favorite store, and more.
