Jordan Fisher is paying a visit to our favorite students at East High!
On Tuesday (July 20), it was announced that the Dear Evan Hansen star would appear on this week’s episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The actor will be taking on the role of Gina’s older brother, Jamie.
According to TVLine, Fisher’s character will be surprising his younger sister, Gina (played by Sofia Wylie), on the opening night of East High’s theatre production of Beauty and the Beast. The episode, which is titled “Showtime,” marks the eleventh episode of the second season. It will premiere on Disney+ on July 23.
In a teaser clip posted by Disney, Gina can be seen wearing a maid costume for her role as Babette. During the intermission of the show, she meets up with Jamie in a hallway at the school. Jamie praises Gina for her performance, and she says that she “learned from the best.”
Before Gina goes back to take her place for Act II, Jamie lets her know that he will have to leave the show early to catch a flight back to Los Angeles.
As he begins to apologize, she interrupts him by engulfing him in a hug and saying, “I’m just really happy to see your face.” He tells her that he’s so proud of her and to “break a leg.”
Back in 2020, Fisher tweeted about wanting to sing the song “Start of Something New” with HSMTMTS stars Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett. The actor called back to that tweet in response to the news about his upcoming appearance on the show. He said, “started with a Twitter interaction…words can’t express how much I love this show, but mostly this unbelievably talented CAST. excited for you guys to meet Jamie #HSMTMTS.”
